Tormented by adversities throughout his career, my father's shoulder was my mother whose stabilizing foundation kept him afl oat and our family together with her perseverance, determination, and love. My wife went to school with the daughter, Barbara Jo, who was her best friend all through elementary school. They are still friends today. She knew her parents well but never knew the story behind them. She was amazed at her writing skills and the story she told so well. She told me to recommend this book to anyone, especially anyone from Mount Vernon, NY who grew up with her. If they knew Barbara, they knew her parents as well. Amazing book. Telling all her former classmates from Hamilton Elementary School around 1950-1957!
